I am the regular education social worker. A school social worker's role is to assist students with any problems they are struggling with that are impacting their academic achievement. My responsibilities include faciliting group therapy sessions, individal therapy sessions, and aiding students in crises. I also assist with Student Ambassador program and peer mediation program.
MY BACKGROUND
I am a former H-F graduate. I graduated from H-F in 1993. I then went on to earn my bachelors from DePaul Universtiy in psychology and my Masters in social work from Loyola University Chicago. I have worked in Chicago for five years with street gangs for a non-for-profit agency directing their northside program. I then went to work for the Academy For Learning, an alternative high school, as an intervention specialist for two years. My internship was completed at Thornton Fractional South High School.
